Tips for increasing participation in youth programs:
Assist your child with creating a list of youth programs and visit to find a good fit for your child’s interests and needs. Many libraries offer excellent out-of-school opportunities.
- Encourage your child to join school clubs or community programs and support them by helping with transportation. Inquire if other students need help with transportation and give them a ride.
Many young people get great satisfaction and leadership experience from volunteering with organizations that raise funds to work on world-wide environmental or humanitarian efforts.
Encourage your teens to join youth organizations to become a summer volunteer, junior leader or mentor to younger children.
